Kaisa Karvinen is an architect, curator, and researcher based in Helsinki. Through writing and exhibitions, she explores the principles shaping the construction of diverse futures and histories in architecture. She holds a Master of Architecture from Aalto University and a Master of Research in Art and Design from Sint Lucas Antwerp, and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Oulu.

Karvinen was selected to curate the exhibition of the Finnish Pavilion at the 20th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia in 2027. The exhibition is produced and commissioned by the Finnish Architecture Information Centre Archinfo.

She worked as a curator at the Architecture & Design Museum (2022–2025). During this time, she curated Teo Ala-Ruona’s exhibition Industry Muscle: Five Scores for Architecture (2025) for the Nordic Countries Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale. She also taught the course Gender and Technology (2021–2024) at Aalto University together with Louna Hakkarainen. With Karita Rytivaara, Karvinen co-edited the book and curated the exhibition Stripped Frame (2022), examining the demolition of modernistic buildings from the 1960s and 1970s. As a researcher and curator for the urban research project (Re)configuring Territories (2019–2022), developed in collaboration with Tommi Vasko, the Narva Art Residency, and the Finnish Cultural Institute of Estonia, she investigated the social, cultural, and material dynamics of post-industrial landscapes around the Baltic Sea. Together with Ott Kagovere and Tommi Vasko, she co-edited Borrowing Positions: Role-Playing Design and Architecture (2019), a publication exploring live-action role-playing (LARP) practices organised by the Trojan Horse collective (2015–). Karvinen was also a member of Henriikka Himma’s working group for the performance production I Was Living in the Strange Place (2021–2024), presented at the Baltic Circle Theatre Festival, the ANTI Festival, and the Hanko Teaterträff Festival.
